2018 has officially started in every time zone of the world, so I decided to write up a list of the 10 most anticipated upcoming video games of this year, along with their official trailers and gameplay trailers!

I’m going to be using some of the gamer terms below, so if you’re not familiar with them, you can learn (or brush up on) them here. There’s no particular order for the following games, so let’s just jump into it!

Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar / Playstation 4, Xbox One / TBA / SP & MP
Fans were disappointed when Rockstar announced that the release of the sequel to the popular Red Dead Redemption will be postponed to spring 2018 instead of fall 2017. Not much is known about this sequel, so fans will have to wait a few more months to play. Pre-order Red Dead Redemption 2 here.

Bioware / Playstation 4, Xbox One, Windows / Q4 / SP & MP
Bioware’s last title Mass Effect: Andromeda was both hated and loved and it’s taking a big step with Anthem, adding more fantasy features to the sci-fi genre of the previous games. Anthem is played in over-the-shoulder third person view in a huge open-world map. Personally it reminds me a lot of Destiny.

Far Cry 5

Ubisoft / Playstation 4, Xbox One, Windows / March 27th, 2018 / SP & Co-op
This game’s predecessor, Far Cry 4, has been a miss for lot of gamers, so they’re hoping Far Cry 5 will be better in every way. Set in rural Montana, this first person action-adventure shooter depicts a dangerous cult. The player takes on the role of sheriff’s deputy in charge of arresting the leader of the cult and the task to eliminate the influence of the cult among the fictional town’s residents. Pre-order Far Cry 5 here.

Marvel’s Spider-Man

Insomniac Games / Playstation 4 / TBA / SP
Spider-Man is set in open world modern-day New York City and is played in third-person perspective. The player will be able to play Peter Parker (out of his Spiderman suit) and Mary Jane in some parts of the game. The open world gives the opportunity for some beautiful views of NYC from Spiderman’s point of view. Pre-order Marvel’s Spiderman here.

Metro: Exodus

4A Games / Playstation 4, Xbox One, Windows / Q4 / SP
The Metro video game franchise is a very popular first person shooter games based on Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novels. Metro: Exodus, set in 2036, follows the events of Metro: Last Light and Metro 2033. Pre-order Metro: Exodus for console.

Sea of Thieves

Rare / Xbox One, Windows / March 20th, 2018 / MP
Sea of Thieves looks to be really fun from the official trailer! As strictly multiplayer, you are part of a pirate crew sailing the seas and battling other players. The game’s cartoonish style and funny features focus less on realism than Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones pirate game. And remember… #BeMorePirate! Pre-order Sea of Thieves here for Xbox.

Good-Feel / Nintendo Switch / TBA / SP & MP
If you own Nintendo Switch then you’d be happy to get Yoshi as your next game! The player controls a 3D Yoshi character in a 2D world. The uniqueness of this game lies in the ability to switch views, so you can see from behind an object or wall. Pre-order Yoshi here.

A Way Out

Hazelight Studios / Playstation 4, Xbox One, Windows / March 23rd, 2018 / Co-op
A Way Out is an interesting take on a co-op game, where the game is played on a split screen (either with a friend next to you or online) and the players complete tasks together in order to escape from prison. Pre-order A Way Out here.

Monster Hunter: World

Capcom / Playstation 4, Xbox One, Windows / January 26th, 2018 / SP & MP
Another game for the popular franchise, Monster Hunter: World, follows the basic premise of the previous games – hunt monsters with cool weapons- but this time in much larger world that is surely going to please both old fans and new! Pre-order Monster Hunter: World here.

Days Gone

SIE Bend Studio / Playstation 4 / TBA / SP
Days Gone might be another zombie apocalypse survival horror game but its open world feature differs from games such as The Last of Us and offers third-person view. Pre-order Days Gone here.

Which of the games on this list would you like to play based on their trailers (regardless if you own the platform or not)? I have to admit A Way Out intrigues me and that would definitely be one of the games I’d like to try.

Which games that are NOT on this list are you looking forward to most in 2018? Let me know in the comments below!

I am excided for Exodus and a bit for Far Cry 5. I’ll be honest however, I’m genuinely surprised Kingdom Hearts III isn’t on this list! I can’t wait for this game.
