Reflecting On 2020 & New Content

I was reflecting on 2020 and I figured I could also reflect how this year influenced this blog. I know I don’t do any personal posts or talk about the future of the blog but I think the end of this year warrants something new.

Geeky Gaming Stuff in 2020

I’m really happy how the blog has grown over the last year. Of course since all the lockdowns in spring people started playing and researching video games. That has definitely helped.

I did my best in updating as often as I could and I’m pretty happy with what I was able to accomplish. I’m definitely not trying to be a huge gaming portal like IGN, Game Informer or Games Radar+ and I don’t want that for this blog.

After all, this blog is ran be just me, with the occasional very rare appearance from my friend Ian (EenPlaysGames on Twitch).

Future Of the Blog

The headline might seem a bit ominous but it’s nothing bad, I promise. I don’t plan huge things or major reconstruction, or even shutting it down.

Hopefully I can publish new content somewhat regularly. Two to three times a month is my goal and I will do my best to keep to the schedule.

New Site Section

In the next few weeks/months I will be adding a new ‘Sims 4 Downloads’ section to the blog. I’ve always been a fan of the Sims and I have made custom content for Sims 2 in the past, usually just recolors of objects and clothes.

A few days ago I started messing with Marvelous Designer and Blender and I hope to create new clothing meshes for Sims 4. Let me tell you, opening Blender for the first time was a wild experience, it’s very overwhelming and I’m still not sure what I’m doing most of the time.

I want to thank my friend Veronica (from PC Gaming Experience) for her encouragement and infinite patience with me and my noob questions as I’ve struggled with learning 3D stuff.

I know that Sims 4 custom content is everywhere and that this might not be a section of this blog that you would want to visit and I totally understand!

(Spoilers: Sims 4 Downloads section is live!)

Monthly Recaps from Gaming World (?)

Reflecting on the content of my blog for the past year, I thought about adding more “chatty” content. I know some of my posts don’t lend well to conversation and that’s completely okay.

Maybe I could do a monthly recap of things happening in the gaming world (needs a more catchy title though), adding my own opinions on things that happened over the month. Furthermore I could add little personal tidbits about the games I’ve played.

Let me know if you’d like to read such recaps and about my gaming escapades!

Poll

A blog is nothing without its readers and I definitely appreciate every single one of you. I made the following poll to see what kind of content you would like to see more of. The poll is completely anonymous.

If you can’t see the poll above or it’s cut off on your device, here’s the link to it on Google Forms.

I want to thank everyone who ever visited Geeky Gaming Stuff, I hope you’ve had a good time and that you’ll visit again. I also want to thank my friends for supporting my blogging with encouraging comments.

Happy new year to everyone, here’s hoping 2021 will turn out much better!
