I decided to sum up my favorite games that I like to play. There has been a lot of games over the years, so this is by no means a comprehensive list. Maybe you will find a new game to try! I’m working on a post about video games that I’d played when I was a child, so stay tuned for that!

Where do you buy your games?

That really depends. Usually Steam store, Origin or Xbox store but first I tend to check places like G2A and SCDKey if they don’t have the games I want for cheaper. It’s very rare that I buy a hard copy of a game anymore.

My favorite games

I play a variety of games from AAA titles to indie games. I don’t usually play games when they first come out, so I can be years behind. 😀

Games for relaxing

  • Minecraft – When I first tried it out, I didn’t like it. The second time was much better and then I got obsessed and spent a lot of time on Minecraft. But what can I say, the music is peaceful and you’re only limited in your imagination with your builds.
  • Sims 4 – I played Sims 1 and 2 but I found Sims 3 to look too play-doh-y. Sims 4 is much better now and as always with my sims, my Downloads/Mods folder is growing because there’s so much cool stuff to tweak your Sim world with.
  • Unravel – I’ve loved the premise of the game ever since I saw the trailer for it. A little character from yarn going on adventures only as far as his yarn would allow him to and solve puzzles. I even made my own in real life, check out my Yarny tutorial!
  • Euro Truck Simulator 2 – I don’t drive but for some reason I find just cruising around European highways and cities in a big truck somehow relaxing. I use my keyboard and mouse but wish I could try it out with a real gaming steering wheel and pedals.
  • Aporia: Beyond the Valley – This is a new find for me, I stumbled upon it by accident and I was instantly hooked by the premise. It’s an indie singleplayer game with no dialogue or text. It’s a visual storytelling and the graphics are just beautiful. I definitely recommend getting the Deluxe version with the game soundtrack.

Shooting games

I enjoy a variety of shooting games but here are a few of them in no particular order:

  • Battlefield IV – This was my first foray into the Battlefield franchise. I fell in love with it, I’ve played over 147 hours on it. You’ll probably see me playing Operation Locker map over and over again.
  • Battlefield 1 – I was so excited for the next one in the series because it was set in World War I with a completely different environment. The single player missions are great, the graphics are amazing. My favorite map is Ballroom Blitz and my class is always a Medic. I’ve spent over 150 hours on it as well.
  • Battlefield V – The newest game didn’t grab me as much as the two previous ones but it’s still pretty good. I’ve spent over 119 hours on it. My favorite maps are Rotterdam and Aerodrome and as always, I’m mostly playing Medic. Really appreciate that there is no Season Pass.
  • Apex: Legends – This game is pretty recent for me in terms of Battle Royale. I’ve been burned out on PUBG and didn’t see the appeal in the other games but I tried Apex and it was really fun (plus it’s free!)
  • Rainbow Six: Siege – I’ve always liked Rainbow Six, I played the classic one back in 1999. The game has come a long way. I only got it recently, so my total playtime is only about 6 hours. And you’ve guessed it – if there’s a medic available in game, I’m gonna be it! 🙂

Action/adventure/survival games

  • Assassin’s Creed III – Definitely my favorite game of the franchise. Many people don’t like the game and don’t like Connor, but if you play the Homestead missions, you can truly see his wonderful character. The soundtrack is on point and can make me emotional.
  • Alien: Isolation – Definitely on the top for horror/survival games for me. I’m a huge fan of the Alien franchise in general and this has a great atmosphere. I also wrote a review on the artbook for this game.
  • Thief – If you don’t like sneaking around and doing stealth missions with a minimum of combat, this game might not be for you (but you never know!). I enjoy the game a lot, trying not to be caught adds to the suspense of the dark Victorian and gothic inspired streets.
  • Rust – This is a survival multiplayer game. I don’t really like fighting other players, so I usually find a PvE server (not sure what it means? Click here for gamer slang explanation.) and only have wild animals to worry about. Rust has come a long way now!
  • Don’t Starve – This is also a surival game. In the basic game, you are alone, trying to survive. There are various DLCs and if you want to play with a friend, you can try Don’t Starve Together. Love the quirky graphics, such a change from the previous ones!

  • Rocket League – While FIFA and racing games are all well and good, I really fell in love with Rocket League. Tiny cars bouncing a big ball (or a hockey puck)? Sign me up! It’s a really great game to play with friends.
  • Garry’s Mod – Garry’s mod is a physics sandbox game. There are many add-ons and game modes that can be added, my friends and I enjoy a good Prophunt session every now and then!
