If you’ve been on my blog before, you know that I have some pretty awesome friends. Last Christmas I got spoiled with a Assassin’s Creed Connor wallet and art book, but I also got this great Altair style Assassin’s Creed messenger bag (official product). I know that from photos it’s really hard to visualize how much stuff you can put it and what all the materials are, so I’ll do my best to give you an honest and complete review.

Manufacturer: Gaya Entertainment
External dimensions: ~ 45 x 4 x 33 cm (~ 14 x 2 x 18.1 inches)
Weight: ~ 0.6kg (~ 1.4 lbs)
Features: adjustable strap, 3 large inner pockets

The bag is slightly off-white with red edges and brown faux leather front/back strap and over the shoulder adjustable strap. The front has a silver Assassin symbol sewn onto it and there is a velcro fastening. The zip has a Assassin symbol styled pendant attached to it.

The description on the store page (and Amazon as well) mentions smaller pockets and pen holders but I have looked everywhere three times and could not find them. Maybe I have an older model which did not have these pockets but I really can’t tell. I thought it was fair to warn you just in case.

The bag is made out of off-white canvas fabric, which seems really durable. It’s hemmed by red fabric and decorated with leather strap and metal buckle + velcro as a closure. The fabric inside is white polyester and is easy to clean. The inside pockets are padded, so your Assassin weapons will be safe in there. 🙂

As far as I know, the messenger bag is standard size. It has an ample room inside and is able to fit in a laptop + accessories. My laptop is really tiny (old 12″ Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V3205), so I can fit the charger and the mouse right next to it in the same back pocket. As you can see in the pictures, I have managed to put in a lot of stuff, including one thick A4 notebook, A4 folder a paperback and my wallet. I still have room to spare but of course you have to take the weight of all the items into consideration.

Pros & Cons

As with every product, there are pros and cons. The pros outweigh the cons in my opinion but I’d let you decide yourself:

  • durable and washable materials
  • padding
  • ample room with 3 divided sections
  • adjustable strap
  • official merchandise
  • Assassin symbols aren’t overpowering

  • light color – can get easily dirty
  • no smaller pockets or pen holders (may be an older model?)
  • the velcro on the front could eventually stop working after heavy use, I feel that a buckle would be better in this case

This Assassin’s Creed messenger bag really reminds me of Altair and it kind of makes me sentimental because his was the first Assassin’s Creed game that I have ever played. Despite the mismatch in information in the store’s description, I feel like this is a great bag for any fan of the franchise. The Assassin symbols are not overpowering the whole piece and are really subtle, so it is also great for people who have never played the game but find the bag’s design really stylish.

My rating: 8.5/10
Currently unavailable for purchase 🙁
